Team USA wins ten events at the World Athletics Championships - The world’s leading track and field team, USA left Osaka with a grand total of 26 medals, 14 of them gold as they dominated the sprint and relay events, winning all four of the latter.

An outstanding performance was registered by the athletes from Jamaica who won 10 medals, including one gold, six silver and three bronze. Bahamas and Cuba each won one event, but Bahamas also took home two silvers while Cuba had one silver and one bronze.

Canada had two silvers and the Dominican Republic one.

The area had a total of 94 finalists, 46 from the USA, 20 from Jamaica, ten from Cuba, five from Bahamas, four from Canada, two each from the Dominican Republic and the Netherlands Antilles, while Mexico had three finalists and the Cayman Islands and Trinidad and Tobago one each.

Overall the area’s performance was comparable to that which it had recorded at the past several championships, once again placing second in the overall rankings behind Europe and well ahead of Africa.
